offset with 18" (polo 9n)

i am wanting to purchase a set of alessio wheels for my polo and am not quite sure of the offset i know it is 35 but then i was told by the wheel company that it is 38 for 18" does anyone out there know what it is?

carmadaaron shud be able to tell you...he has 18's on his car.

to be sure, i stuck with ET 35.
also mine are 8" wide, and i can just fit a finger between some points between the inner arch and the wheel. in the front, theres more room...
