I've heard rumours that this one is quite a mission to do...... rewires some brute force from my recollection. as for the button I have no idea - perhaps another modder can help you out.... anyone?

I never bothered and just replaced the whole lever with another one, came off a Mk3 Golf GTI. Leather and all, quite nice. The Mk3.5 cabbie Golf has a chrome button - quite rare. Still fancy that.

I'm not following I'm afraid - its a aftermarket part? or OE? OE ones should have the button attached to the lever, not sure they come off.

Ive been told is just a screw on button but when they say screw on it may require plyers to take it off...
Ill be getting mine done soon aswell so should be interestin to see how it turns out but for now i've opted for a stick on chrome button cover

after days of driving without a handbrake, a local scrap yard, 2 hours of my time and an angle grinder........ i finally managed to fit my aftermarket handbrake sleeve!
the polo hanbrake button DOES NOT SCREW OFF! so dont attempt to screw it or you will snap the rod inside the handbrake (like i did). to overcome this problem, i got a rod from a mk2 golf handbrake as it is threaded, therfore you can screw a button onto it. i used the angle grinder to trim my handbrake lever so that my sleeve would fit........
im very impressed with the final piece, but how do i post photos?
lol
thanks
