hi guys

I've seen alot of arch kits that have been blended in the body work on MKIII's and II's. Recently I saw a picture of a silver MKIII with filled and smoothed bumpers which looked really good

I have always thought that your bog standard body filler will not "stick" properly to plastic body work and in around 12 months time your hard work will start to fall of leaving your car looking like crap!

anyone know what is the correct filler needed to give a permenant finish

it depends how much the plastic will flex, but I've had no problems with plastic padding elastic, as its flexible and doesnt crack if its used on a roughened surface.

That is a fibreglass RS bumper from Reiger.
I used two 17mm bolts to hold the front on and then used tigerseal and fibreglass bridger under the wings. Then to smooth it into the panels i used fibreglass bridger but set it back from the line of the bodywork so i could just fill over the top of it.

what is tigerseal and fibreglass bridger

Are these available from your bog standard motorfactor

tigerseal is available from car paint suppliers, but bridging compound is available from any car accessory shops (might be better known as fibreglass paste).

you've got to be careful if using bridging compond as it is brittle and if you flex it too much it can crack and flake out.

Yeah it is brittle so be careful if/when you do it.
Used a fair amount of tigerseal, left it to dry for 24 hours and that bumper wasnt going anywhere from that point onwards!
