*VW Mania/VW Hofstade 2003*

I know it's across the channel, but if you guys don't know about these meetings, you can't even consider them... Right?

So, here's the biggest and most highly anticipated meeting in Belgium:

VW MANIA.

(1st, 2nd, and 3rd of August 2003)

They had a bunch of problems to get it off the ground this year, and ended up getting their name 'stolen'... So there are two similar meetings now, one right after the other. This is the 'original', now held at 'De Nekker', Mechelen, Belgium. Visit: www.vwmania.be

Then there's the competition:

VW Hofstade

(8 - 10 August 2003)

Looks to be big as well, in part by the confusion and the location - it's VW Mania's regular spot. Partnerships include VW Club Charly's (similar to Ed38/Westside).

I couldn't even find the (*#$@) camping site. Trust the Belgians to confuse me completely. And probably every other day-visitor, where exactly was everybody?

I went around the field about three times, but that wasn't too impressive, I'd expected more cars, and more people. Oh well. Did get a couple of pics, I'll up them later.

You had to go to the other side of the road to the show & shine.. to where the day parking was (and I think there was a swimming pool there too??) and the campingwas behind that. Must have been a good 1000 cars in there!

Noticed the pool. No signs that said 'Camping. Look here for 1000 nice cars.'.

Oh well, I'll bring a guide dog to Hofstade next week.

Yeah they are boycotting it.

Talked to Tjaap the other day and DCI is boycotting it. They're not the only ones, that's for sure.

I just realized I can't go, so that makes the decision pretty simple.

I'll wait for the pics and the reports from others...
