Rev counters

Ive got a mk3 coupe CL and ive just bought a external rev counter, in the manual it sez uve gotta put a wire to the egnition coil, but their isnt one, could someone help me to find out were itz supposed to go... :)

the ignition coil is the black tube with the ht leads comingg out of it (more specfically its the one with one ht lead coming out')

are these abbreviations? The instruction book will tell you what these stand for and it will make wiring it in a whole lot easier.

There is a coil, you just need to look harder. LOL
It's just under the washer bottle in the engine bay. If you want a rev counter, it's much easier to fit an instrument cluster with a rev counter already in. They are a straight swap and you dont have to mess around with any wiring.

You will find the rev counter instrument clusters in the Genesis, GT and G40 models. You should be able to find a set quite easily, have a look through the classifieds. Maybe try a VW breakers or scrapyard. You can swap your speedo to keep the correct mileage too.

I put a genesis cluster into mine and used my old speedo and I hit a problem with the oil warning, a high pitched fast beeping and the oil light flashing... don't quite understand but I threw the lot in the bin and will try again another day, looking for a cluster with roughly the same mileage atm
