You need to crop the image you want to use to a reasonable size, upload it using http://www.imageshack.us/ copy the link which is a direct to the image URL.

Then go into your profile and scroll down to signature, paste the Url add the image tags around it ie

[img ]www.whatever.com/example.jpg[/ img]

(but that the spaces out between the img and the ])

Bob yours uncles mothers brother :D If you need anymore help just post 8)

You'll need to resize it in some kind of graphics software like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. Or you can find plenty of freeware applications like the GIMP :)

Ideally your signature image should be roughly something like 300x100 pixels (Width x Height) to help the pages load faster for non-broadband users! My signature, for example, is 240x90  but just play about with it until you get something you like the look of.

Cheers

 yeah but they look BLOODY AWFUL that way! lol :D

download something like ... dammit what was its name now... Lview or something like that (Irfanview?????). A little spin off of paintshop if i remember rightly, just gives you very basic cropping and resizing functionality, but much better final quality than paint gives. (Paint will just drop entire columns / rows of pixels in the appropriate pattern to make the pic the right size, which tends to look rough as a dogs breakfast - Lview / PSP / photoshop / gimp etc will add together and average out ALL the original pixels for a much smoother / natural / better looking pic).

Or if you have microsoft office / works installed, try Photo Editor or Picture It! Express. They do a similar basic but servicable job if i remember rightly.

Think what the guy originally wanted was a pic underneath his actual username on the sidebar a.k.a. an avatar pic (like on porka etc) --- think i'm right in guessing that's still not doable on UKP?
(often i see users running wild with them, breaking the board's HTTP or gobbling up megabytes with p*sspoor animated gifs ... porka especially was bad for that at one time ... so maybe its for the best, sigs seem far easier for mods to squash)
