I've broken it!

This morning I went to open the boot using the handle, and as I pulled the handle up I heard a *snap*, which presumably was the cable snapping - so now I can't get my boot open!

I can still get into the boot via the 60/40 split rear seats, drop them down and grab anything I need, but I can't investigate the damage to the cable because the boot lid is closed, so limited access.

It's booked into my local Dealership for Wednesday morning to be repaired, giving them "the time to order in the necessary parts". In the meantime, I could have a go at stripping down the bootlid and seeing what I can do about the problem, if anything. Problem is I've been searching through past posts, trying to find the necessary information on stripping the bootlid of it's plastic mouldings and stuff, but can't find anything...

Help?

My done sumthing like this before and i couldnt get the boot opend. So climbed in the boot with a slot screw driver, and its hard to explain theres like a wee "tooth" put the screw driver on it pressed down and to the passenger side (very little force) and this released the boot , and then i got out and open it ... lol it's very easy to do , u should see the wee tooth to the passenger side of the car, on the lock

Climb in the boot with a phillips driver (medium) i think its phillips any way
in each of the interior handles on the boot lid there screws (1 per handle) i think that if you undo these then the edges are just clipped in

But the wee tooth idea sounds right and is prolly easier

Heh heh never got time in the end what with work and all...

It went to VW this morning, their technician has told me that I require a complete new release mechanism and locking barrel, which will have to be cut to be used with my current keys. The parts are on order... £110 fitted! On the plus side the labour charges will be reduced because it will be the fifth time I've visited my dealership this month!!
