and got WASTED!!
I should really have known this being a former punto owner and having been on the puntosports forum for a couple of years ( I had a sporting before the GTI)
but fook me they are quick. think he must of been running a few mods though, I could hear the induction, dump valve and exhaust so god knows what else he had or how much boost he was running, but I really did forget how quick those little turbos are!
not a bad looking model either, stock body in sky blue slammed on the anthracite GT alloys. was a friendly enough bloke too- gave a wave as i pulled off and hazards
a laugh anyway- but now i want more power- so tell me, how do i squeeze some more power out of the ARC lump? I already have a back back box and induction kit- but there must be more i can do?

On the flip side, i just pulled up at the lights and looked to my right, only to see 2 chav's smiling at me. He starts reving hard so i thought f**k it, lets teach this f****r a lesson infront of his mate, absolutly floored it from the light, 7,000rpm quickly into 2nd, got a bit carried away. Ended up doing 85 in a 30. Slowed down for the next lights and looked behind me, he may as well of pulled away in 4th. Took him about 50 seconds to join me at the next lights where he turned off right.
Was this one, 1.6 16v version but damn they are slow!
Phill.

just realised with his mods he was running at least 140bhp (they are 136 standard) and a lot less weight than a gti so really and truely it was done before it started!

I wasted some young lad in a punto S last night if that makes you all feel better hahaha.
last week picked bro in law up from work..sat in middle lane of a roundabout when i hear frantic revving followed by loud TSHHH TSHHH noises. Look left and this blonde lads looking over and smiling in a toyota celica gt4. Bro in law says "have him!!" and i'm like "shut up you moron"
Anyway..traffic cleared so i floored it and to my suprise I'm easily infront haha.
I guess he underestimated the GT and didn't keep his car on the boil..mahoosive turbo lag

I dunno wtf is wrong with my GTi
On the M1 stuck in a tailback, traffic clears and I floor it, Peugeot 307 HDi Floors it too, and beats me! i stay close-ish behind him but couldnt get past. No mods or anything.
Also another car totally wasted me, another pug, 407, dunno wat engine, I assume petrol, but he overtook me on the motorway like I was going backwards.

I think the Punto GT's are hugely underestimated, my mate has one with NOS and it's absolutely insane. Like nothing i've been in before- for such a small car. Awesome.

to be honest i knew he would beat me, but didnt realise by quite what degree, he wass ahead by around 3 car lengths at the point i enterede third gear!
I have a friend who has a GT with a lot of work done under thhe hood. (rebore to 1.5litre, low comp pistons, forged rods, T25 turbo, unichip, viper induction kit, front mount intercooler, boost valve, exhaust and a whole lot more.) he runs about 230bhp and that car scares the crap out of me. ridiculously quick.
but even as standard they really shouldnt be sniffed at. evil quick for a 1.4 I dont think theres much in the same class that could beat it.

I had a run in with a 206hdi early one morning on the way to a car boot sale, theyre faster than i thought they would be..i was 3 up in the car and he had his guard dog with him (thats wife) he was just inching infront, i had to brake and let him in on a corner so he didn't take the front end off the car.

I used to have a Punto S, loved it, but always wanted a GT.
Woman who lives up the street from me had a totally standard Broom Yellow one. Looked mint. Was always tempted to go up and offer to buy it from her.
She's sold it now, gutted.

People..people...
The Punto's are a POS...
Its the turbo that does it,not the car itself.
Thats like attaching a rocket to a bicycle and naming it a car.
Please...There is more to a serious car than just the power.
Go on and turbo your Gti's and then stand next to a Punti GT...
And then come and share the results...
