I've blown my front speakers
Has anyone had this at all? (there the ones on the two pillars to the left and right of the windscreen)
Best to speak to VW? or will audio shops be able to sort me out?
thanks

I've deleted your duplicate thread that was in the electrical section.
I would say that VW will class speakers as a wear and tear item. I know Ford have been doing so for years!

buy a set up uprated speakers. thats what i did. much better sound quality.
then just mount some tweeters on your dash or at the top of the pillar. connect these to the speakers in the doors etc. end less things you can do really.
but i can see vw replacing them for you

Is it a standard VW set up? Or do you have an aftermarket headunit etc??? I would have thought if everything was standard VW then they should cover it under warrenty? You would think they would make the speakers compatiable with the headunit for them NOT to blow!

I have a sony headunit in my polo as well as a vibe 10inch sub (built in amp) . They would'nt cover under warranty....but....they fitted the headunit and sub before i picked it up, when i bought the car...could that mean they would?

Nah deffo wont replace them! But hey if you dont ask you dont get! Thats my moto! The original VW speakers obviously werent powerful enough for your sony head unit. Best bet is to spent a couple of quid on a set of better speakers. I think the front ones are 5" so you should beable to get a good set for well under £100. Also you will be able to crank it right up now no probs!

My original front speakers play with a 75Watt rms amp in full throttle for the last 18 months with no problems
