Like the title

The horn on my polo sounds low & week (which cannot express my anger when pressed ,unlike the one on my golf mk3which sound alot meatyier (it thats a word ). i've seen electro & magnum horns in fletchers for £10. Does anyone know if these will fit straight on? (polo 1997 1.4 16v)

lol my horn on my 16 valver used to be pathetic, until i crashed it but i was gonna have a look it, im sure on some horns you can adjust a screw to adjust the dia-phram to be louder/quieter dunno though

Yeah they are easy to change and there is plenty of space. All you need is a straight bracket to hold the horn onto the OEM mounting point. Have a look fir yourself. It is below the battery tray. Easiest point of access is to remove the lower, side, passenger side vent.

Can you not pick a Golf (or Transporter) horn from a scrap yard and fit that?

just sorted it , it was trapped by the air intake pipe, just had to release it. it sounds better now. Still might replace it with a much louder one thou

My polo Gti has the golf one on it, so id imagine it is a straight swop!

Whilst we're on the subject of horns mine won't work and i don't know why! Changed the fuse and tried 2 different horns from a scrappie and it still doesn't work!

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Do you think this will work in a Polo Mk4?

aghh i hate this, some beamer cuts you up and in a fit of rage you honk your horn only to be further laughed at. I'd get around to replacing it but i keep spending the money on improving the aesthetics

Yea Im going to replace my horn (polo open-air) as its so gay.
Ive done this before on my old VW Derby I think, there nearly all 12V, although some suck quite a bit of power so may need their own relay, to avoid blowing fuzes, often included with new,or just buy one from Lucas etc.
Im on e-bay, and am tempted with the Klaxon type aoo-gah, but thats not going to get those old biddys out the way, so Im going for an old one from a Landie or small lorry, the air type are generally louder than the bellow type, but dixy land wont express my annoyance, so its going to have to be deep and low like a fog horn Nauilus seem good .

www.oddballimport.co.couk have some good air horns.
never looked at the nautilus horns.. but i imagine a pair on a polo would be somewhat surprising
