AUA Gearbox into a GTi?

After descovering the 1600 crank transplant to my AUA 1400 engine is going to be more work (and expence) than first thought.
Ive desided to sell on the engine, and just repair the 1600 engine.
It requires a new head and sump, and doesn't come with a gearbox.
My AUA gearbox is not needed by the dude who may be buying it, so I was wondering f anyone knows if the gearbox will fit the GTi engine?
Its a long shot that anyone may know, but though it was worth the question
