Polo on a Budget!!

Hi! Just introducing myself here and starting a new topic!

I'm me! I own a MK2 Polo C 1043cc 54k miles. In perfect condition..!

I'm on a very tight budget as to what I can do to make it look a little bit less silly because lets be honest, they all do look rather comedy!

I dont mind about engine mods because its my first car, it does the job and I've had a rather good 96mph out of it but revving silly high!

I want to improve the lights as its getting darker each evening so i need directing to exactly what ones will improve the lighting on like ebay or a model number or something at halfords etc?
I'm not liking the wheels but I dont want any old silly trims nor do i want to fit alloys because of my budget of more or less nothing.

The body is perfect except for the nearside rear panel which is dull and white without a good polish but when the whole lot is polished it sparkles. I could do with replacement bumpers I think because I hate the huge black ones so maybe some newer ones would be good?

I dont know, but are there any suggestions from anyone?? Thanks!![/img]

come off it, its not comedy, its a classic example of VWs quirky market leading design that competitors such as Renault and Honda took many years to copy - some only starting recently

or some bobbins like that. maybe "unique" is better

anyway. 4 speed 1.0 box does have comedy top gear (less than 17mph per 1000rpm) so if you want to keep trying to hit the ton you'd better be sure your engine is solid and you change the oil regular. (in fact in one of this age and gearing thats one of the best things you can do for it, if you can afford it)

if you're looking to change the wheels..... how do you think mk4 steels would look on it? Silver sprayed, centre caps, looks like alloys from a distance, not particularly shabby up close. matched well with my mk3, havent seen em on a mk2 yet (though i HAVE seen someone who's copied me! even in the same colour car, but, its a Fox not a CL... the swine! :D)
=== that is, i have some for sale but no interest yet. £30 or thereabouts to cover the two new tyres i put on (michelin energy, 155/70 R13, £40 the pair, only about 5000 miles on them, maybe less), as whats left of the rest i got free. (also have one budget tyre with good tread, and one with a sidewall puncture)

lights i'd start with just getting hold of some proper 60W halogen headlamp bulbs, as it might still be running 45 or 50w standard jobs, which are rubbish. After that, improved headlight wiring loom, xenons etc

thats about all i can think of....

if youre serious about your budget though a corsa might be a better bet :D
