1st question has to be, is there one? rather than a timing chain.

2nd, when should it be changed? i can't see it mentioned in the servive schedule thats found in the service book.

My car is circa early 96 with a 1.4 8v

Many thanks in anticipation

the time to change depends on who you ask most people tend to change them around the 60-70 mark depending.

think vw - 80k & haynes manual - 60k

Its about to turn 80k so its looking like its overdue.

As a guide what should i expect to pay to have it swapped? Is it just the belts or are there tensioners/pulleys to change as well

Thanks

as far as i'm aware you should change the following

Cam belt
water pump
tentioners

The price you will pay, will vary, according to different garages labour charges....

The job shouldn't take any longer than 2hrs to do...

My garage has given me a fixed charge of £85 though,
I just have to supply the parts
