Changing front wheel bearing

Got myself a bit of a prob, im pretty sure my front passenger wheel bearing is fooked.
Has any1 changed theirs & if so how hard a job is it? I did the 2 rear 1s a week or so ago & they were nice & easy.
Any help appreciated.

a front wheel bearing is much more difficlt to do as you need to remove the front strutt, and you either need a bearing extractor or a hydraulic press to do it properly.

aparently they are much much harder to do than the rears! aparently there is a tool that you can get that'll remove the bearing without removing the strut! we have yet to find this yet!
i've got passenger side front wheel bearing to do to! i asked at the stealers how much to do it, they said for about an hour and 1/2 work, its over £100 shocking

thanx 4 the replys guys, youve confirmed my worst nightmare! LOL! I thought it might have to be pressed out & to do so remove the full strut but i was hoping (& praying) i didnt need 2 goto these extremes.

No, you don't need to have a press or extaractor. It can be done using hand tools, if you know what your doing.

god damn drum brakes can be done solo with hand tools, if you know what you're about. if you're coming to them fresh, all the instruction manuals and remote advice can't stop you making a hash of it and nearly losing the fingers on your left hand.
unless you can afford to have the car off the road a week or two and can get hold of the relevant toolage, might be best to defer to a garage (or a local friendly board member/other mechanic-guru) in this case.

well i wouldnt really know wot im doin exactly tho im always up 4 making a mess while trying. I need 2 get it done b4 the polo show (i no its about a month away but i work 6days a week & ive got my 21st b4 it so i wont have much time)
I dont need my car most of the time only really for block release @ college, cood always get insured on the Genesis if i did take the GT off the road i supose.

gotta get my bearing done pritty soon, its getting on my nerves! mainly use the car to trundle to and from work, don't particularly get over 40mph! but sometimes i need to doa bit of motorway stuff, which isn't so good! just want to get done so i can hear what else is making noises in the car!

you could take the strut off and get a garage to do it then

thats probably what i will do! if we can't get the bearings in and out ourselves! its just a bit annoying that i will be car-less for a little while!
p.s hardhitter, i haven't forgotten about the zorst by the way

you could take the strut off and get a garage to do it then
yeah i was think in about that 2day, prob my best option.
Jst remembered ive got a spare set of struts in my garage basement.
