dont know if there is supposed to be one but when you leave your lights on and open the door with most cars it gives you a beep so you know to switch your lights off if you have forgot! mine on the other hand doesn't!! is there supposed to be one in the mkIV? if not how can i put one in as i have found myself leaving my lights on quite a few times now so would benefit a little beep to remind me!!!
Thank You!!

yeah, I think it should have one - but then again it could be model specific. every polo 6n I've been in had one.
anyone got a low-spec 6n here?
hmmm. I could have a gander in the haynes later on.

its doing my head in!!! big time, i usually have my side lights on at all times, mainly due to knowing people who have had other drivers pull out on them and said they didn't see them comming! so way i see it is the more i can make myself visible the better!! just annoying when i leave them on and get in the house then realise i can see them still on

i belive its in the headlight relay. but i may be wrong. but the haynes manuel doesnt tell you what realy number it is unless im being a fool and cant see it. oh well. mine did the same.
was working when i got the car then went to the bodyshop to be repaired from my crash and then wasnt workin.

i had a look in the haynes
up to 1998, the buzzer is located somewhere in the fuse / relay box behind the driver's glove compartment. it's called component "c" in the haynes!
I guess if you get a replacement, you should be able to see where it should go.
after 1998, I couldn't find it - I think it's an integral part of the dash / wired up to somewhere else. I think the noise if different - which leads me to believe it might be a dash speaker or something?

what i said its integrated into the relay. and they die after a while.

I think the headlight relay is item "d" in the fuse box in the haynes manual, whereas the buzzer is item "c" so it could be it's own separate part - but I may be wrong. Are you sure it's just a case of replacing the headlight relay then - have you fixed this before?
I can't see the identification of any of the relay numbers in the haynes - which is a shame.
edit:
I've rung up VW, and pre-1998 swapover it's its own relay in the fuse/relay box. 12 pounds plus VAT. I asked whether it was part of the headlight relay and the guy said he didn't know - it's marked 9/36 or something!
after 1998 wiring-swapover he confirmed it was part of the instrument cluster.
so - you have to figure out which model you have! Easiest way to check is to look at your battery - is there a black box over the terminal with fuses inside? If so - then you're post swapover and I have no idea how to fix it!
