Right, the previous owner must have hit a speed bump or something before i got the car because the front splitter is scratched on both sides... i now have 2 options...

1) Pay £100 to have it smoothed and painted (will look like the rest of the body work, will not have grain on it)

2) Pay £50 for a new one and leave it black

What would you do, and is £100 reasonable for smoothing and spraying??

If it was me I'd pay the hundred quid, get it smoothed and sprayed, freshens up the front end no end IMO.

Hehe, ive just dropped it off at the body shop know, i dont mind paying that little bit extra because there work is top class!

That's what I like to hear Phil, once I pick mine up I'm gonna have to get a price for it to be done as well.

The reason it was so expensive is because its got scratches and a few gashes out of it. Also when people get them colour coded they leave the small grain in it and just spray over, i want it full smooth like the body work so it blends in perfectly...

Just need to work out a way of stopping myself destroying it when i get my car lowered. You can get these little rubber leg things for draws etc in your house, think 2 of them might work well, one on either side!! That way when it hits the floor the rubber will just get scratched...

I'll have to be careful then as well, because as soon as the moneys there coilovers are going to be going on to drop it as much as I can still allowing me to fit 16's when the time comes

Collies just aint practical arround my area, speed bump heaven + my drive is VERY steep so its a no good, shame too coz ive got more then enough cash atm, might get a retrim instead...

I know how you feel - my driveway isn't steep but the nature of the roads in shropshire, the traffic-calming measures in town and some of the B-roads I get to go blasting down, it's just not practical to have coilies and be so far lowered even though it would look good I will just be having springs!

Thing is, even if you car is just lowered more then 60mm when you are parking it hits the curb, which is no good because you can garantee you will. Ive just payed for some 50mm Eibach springs and i think ill be happy with that for now... Dont really have anything else i wanna do now... i really like the way it is, 50/50 on getting a black leather retrim. Not sure if im bothered enough todo it though!

I was considering that for when I get mine as well, thing is, now I've got one my insurance has doubled so I'm limited by that. Audio is one of the things I really want to save for though, as well as wheels and lowering, anything else can wait till I get the cash

you aint gunna be worry'in about the front splitter when you lower it on 16,s trust me the problem lies in the arches!!

What happens with the arches then if you're lowered on 16's?

Well first off i had it lowered 35mm on 16's sat nice but could go lower!
Put the coilovers on and droped it another 25mm bad idea cos the car sat on the arches up it went sorted the problem out!

Untill i hit a nice bumpy corner and the wheels hit the front bumper mount which sits over the tyres!! and it rubs on full lock!! (not now cos got grinder out he he he )

So raised it back up a little at the front ok now but still rubs got new tyres on the way smaller profile which should help it!! low on 16,s is ok but dont know how the others use 17,s!!

So would you reccomend 15's instead if I want to go low?
