On my 6N I had to drill the A pillar of the car to get the wires through. You could wire it up using your existing speaker wires to the amp if you want?
I wish I had never bothered tho! My Alpine type R-s on the Alpine HU were fine. sigh.

you shouldnt have to be drilling whether its a 3dr or 5dr vehicle
It's quite a basic process...remove the plastic sills whic run along the floor edge - held in with a couple of screws or pops off. run the cabling along under the sill edge or carpet. Run it all the way down to the front and use the exisiting bung position which should have sum protective tubing between the door and main frame. put it back together in reverse and repeat for other side.

Try to keep it away from power wire to avoid interference also.

the what i was talking about...the one on the polo is probably slightly different but this seems to be a standard sort of item so you'll probably find once the door card is off u put sum wiring thro there

I drilled because it's a hard plastic moulding that the wires connect to on the A-pillar from the door, not a bung. you can't fit the wires through there at all - no chance on the mk4 anyway. there is a connector block that unscrews and that's it, no grommit. there IS a grommit on the door side though, so I didn't drill that.
the only way to get the speaker wire through (if it's thick) is to drill. correct me if I'm wrong though.....

agreed - it is possible to disconnect and open each end of the plastic tubing (the parts on door and car can be un-done with a suitable spanner), but generally there are no spare holes in its design - as its more like a plug and socket type connection
however, if you don't have central locking, there will be a fairly large hole for you to use, this is where the air pipe would have connected if you had central locking
personally I had to drill it, carefully checking the clearance, to fit a power cable through for some circuit I put in - defo enough space for one speaker cable, bit tight - but it can be done neatly through the rubber tube, just fiddly hehe
want any info about it, let me know

Yes wire the speaker wire from amp to the "input" on the crossover or if doing like in my guide wire to where the old tweeter connections are
