Pedal Box Letter from VW.......

Just got a letter yesterday from VW asking for the GTi to be returned to have the 'foot pedal support' replaced (FOC of course). Is this the pedal box? Has anyone else got one of these letters recently and if so, are VW finally taking a proactive approach to getting this sorted?
The other explanation is that I have only just registered the car with VW UK as it's an import (not that I realised when I bought it...) and they have just written to little old me.
Anyway, the old girl is going in next week so after that, should be completely sorted as the cam belt and tensioners were done last month......
