digital clocks/dials had a period!

my clocks stopped workin for a few mins-- i gt in the car and the digital parts were messed up -- like when u push the screen of a calculator and bits of the numbers are nt recognisable-- i tapped the dash and they went back to normal and have nt messed up since -- what is the cause of this plz ?????

not sure mate, but i get a similar problem with the tacho + speedo - someimes they just die. The digital clock also dies when they die - just a faulty electric thing somewhere behind the dash i guess. Can't say ive ever seen the LCD bits go all screwed up tho...

i had this happen to me a few times not really sure want causes it or how to stop it. mine tends to happen when the car is at its highest temperture i.e. sitting in traffic

could be something loose? or just general electric ghosts in the system :D

'reboot' by disconnecting the battery and plugging back in, see if it happens again

icheck/done this a few times, my next move is to get it hooked upto vag-com or similar product to check for fault codes

doubt it would be a recognisable fault, as it seems to happen to most polos from '95/'96 - maybe all those before the big change in '98?
