URGENT - Need help more than oxygen

Have just been installing a new head unit, changing the bad wiring for a new ISO fitting - have done this a million times - but after running everything up, the engine will no longer fire.

The starter turns the engine over, but it is not catching. My first thought was that i could have blown the fuel pump fuse, but it is fine, and does whir into action when ignition lets power on.

The exact way that this problem is ocuring is that when i rotate the key to ignite, the power seems to go, and the fuel needle drops, while the engine turns over.

I have seen that the ignition key system can be a problem, and will check that tomorrow, but please - any help, let me know!

ND

Sorry, im not sure on exact cause etc... but perhaps check your switched ignition feed on ISO, maybe its been muddled up, or disconnect it and try again

Maybe there has been a power drain overnight and its a flat battery?

Hope a bit useful :)

Dont worry mate, I had EXACTLY the same problem: installed a new HU, after a few weeks the starter system wouldnt work.
Turned out in my case to be a broken igniton switch ie. the switch you put the key in.
Try wriggling the key when its inside the barrel while the starter is turning over - you shud find that the engine will try and fire, and should eventually fire and run fine.

Hope this helps! Sounds exactly the same as the problem so is easy to fix. I took mine to the local dealer - the part costs about £12, but labour varies so anything from £20 to £80 i would guess.

In the end, it has turned out to be the dizzy sensor - everything was actually fine, it just didn't know when to fire injector & plugs. Have got to get a new dizzy.

As my dad said - having replaced the stereo had nothing to do with it - IT WAS JUST A CASE OF BAD TIMING - *groan*

Cheers for trying though!
