new alloys scraping brake pads

I just got my new alloys on my Polo.
When I took it for a test drive i heard scraping, I had a look and it seems that the alloys are scaping my front brake pads, not calipers (and I have drums in the back). I only changed my brake pads and disks two weeks ago, with standard ones.
I was told these alloys would fit with out any modification and no spacers. It looks really tight, if the pad were 1-2 mm worn I'd be fine. What can I do ?

Would spacers fix it?

As you can see, its only just touching the pad. The car moves fine except the scaping.
What would i do without my camera phone!!

spacers should fix it, as it enables it fits in between the wheel and the hub.
but,
imagine if the wheels are pulled out say 10mm or 20mm, will they still hit it?

Just got some spacers. They would work if the diameter was 4mm less, as would the alloys fit if the alloy face diameter was 2mm less. Another solution would be for the brake pads to be a tad thinner.
I'll look for some smaller spacers, or else grinding down the ones I already have will probably be the best solution.
What do you think?
I'm going to hate putting those old wheels back on.
I let you know how it goes, It's too dark to take picture of the mess I've made.

Thanks for all your help guys.
After 6 hours, I got my new wheels on. I decided that I had to trim the spacers.
So they went from:

To what's left over from them:
The car runs great and my first impression (in the wet) of the Toyo Proxes T1-S is great. I don't know if it's the tread/rubber or size increase thats done it, but the car handles amazingly better.
I still have the central caps for my alloys to arrive, but this is what it looks like so far.
I'll have some before and after shots in the Members Rides Forum next week.

The problem was that the brake pad was sticking out 1-2 mill more than the wheel face. I had brand new disks and pads just put on.
Now with the alloys on, and the alloy face slightly larger than the wheel face, the alloys were sitting on the brake pad.
Adding a spacer made it worse, but protected my alloys.
So I trimmed the spacer, which stopped it touching the pad...
The spacer can move, won't fall out, and so I deemed it safe.
Plus my tools didn't allow any accurate triming, I use a Dremel with a cutting bit attached.
The spacer created some space between the alloys and pad. The spacer was the thinnest I could find: 3mm. which was more than I needed.
I may remove the the spacers, once the pads have worn out a little.

im not sure if i can agree on that with you

, as sure it wont move when standstill due to the pressure applied between the hub and the wheel. but when moving you cant really just predict it. Personally, if i was going to use spacers, i would try and use the ones that physically bolt on and not just sit in the middle. Also did you use the correct type of aftermarket wheel bolts as well as ones that are slightly longer than standard?

Due to the gap formation on the spacer, you can see that it simply can't go anywhere as long as all four bolts are in place. Put it this way, the spacer piece I cut off wouldn't have prevented it moving anymore than it would with it on. Yes, I know I would have a problem if the bolts fell out, but that would be a problem with or with out the spacer.
I've never seen spacers that bolt on, I'd be very interested in looking at some. Got a link?
Did I use the correct type of aftermarket wheel bolts? errr no. I didn't think I'd need them with only a 3mm spacer.
What size bolts do I need? (don't say ones that are 3mm longer!!) I don't know how long/wide my current ones are.

he means like these Fk automotive ones.
not keen on the idea of my brake pads catching the hubs of my alloy wheels....

Are you sure they are the correct pads? Saying that, it does look like the wolfrace's have got a huuuuuuge hub area for some reason

FK ones, is exactly what i had in mind pettsy

Venom do em!
3mm -

- you should be okay, but if you have used steelie bolts or vw alloy bolts, let me say this. I thought it would be okay myself about 3 weeks ago, but in reality, both types of bolts have a different seat and using the wrong bolts can damage the fitment of the alloys, as after all they are made of alloy

. errr. let me shed some light on this:
This is the rounded seat of a VW bolt

This is the flat tapered seat of a AFTERMARKET WHEELS VW Bolt.

compare these and you'll see what i mean.
Having Wolfrace wheels b4, im sure they still have the same aftermarket fitment.
