New clutch

when i'm driving along with some mates in the car , if i put my foot down the revs climb and my clutch slips . so i'm gunna get a new clutch set. would you advise taking it to a garage to get it done or save money and get my dad to show me how to fit one properly. Also how much have people paid for new clutches on 1.4 8v mark 4's

new clutch shouldnt be more that 70 and labour is around 100ish depending where u take it ofcourse

I got a quote for a new clutch for my mk4 1.4 v8 last week: £230. I walked away knowing I wasn't ever setting foot in that garage again. I only got ripped off for the tracking I had done (£30, 3 minutes work).
Looking through my Haynes manual, it doesn't look easy. But if your dad knows what he's doing, then that's what I'd do. You'll be saving a heap of cash.

cheers fellas , me and my dad have had a play about with the clutch linkage and it hardlydoes it as bad now , but i think i'll end up doing it when i have more fundfs , just for my peace of mind
