in a couple of weeks i'm gonna be taking all four wheels off my gti, so i can have the tyres removed and then refurb the wheels, have the middle parts powder coated and the have some lovely new eagle F1s put on so, bearing in mind this will take a couple of days for the powder coating - what the hell am i going to sit my car on?!?!

i cant take it to a garage 'oi mate, you mind if i leave this here for a few days?'

my dad suggested bricks (ouch), my mum (bless her) went one better and suggested i put it straight onto the ground - now i'm really gonna go for that one?!?! and my sister? well to be honest i don't think she realised you could take wheels off.

so peeps - what do i put my lil' red gti on?

2 x Steelies - you have the first one already in the boot - go to a scrapy and buy another space save steel wheel with a 4 x 100 PCD

FIT THEM on the REAR - make sure the handbrake is on good and proper

2 x Axle Stands for the front

not clever at all - if it was all the garages would use them!!!

An option but getting the jack out will be fun

Serious. bricks or wood, or anything which wont crumple under the weight of a car will be fine for a while, or axle stands

Firstly - Normal bricks are not designed to have impact loads or loads centred in a small location - trust me on this they will crack, crumble, split and the car will end up on the deck and the bits that break away will dent the sills or floorpan as it comes to the ground

Secondly - The car will have to be at a height that the wheels can be removed so unless they are huge RC Blocks it will be seriously unstable a nice gust of wind will have it over let alone someone leaning against it!!

Thirdly as you jack up the car and remove each wheel in turn the weight of the car will be transfeered to the other corners supported by bricks - it will tip off as there is nothing to stop it. At best the car will be damaged - At worst - you will be

PLEASE PLEASE DON'T EVER BE TEMPTED TO DO THIS NOT EVEN FOR ONE WHEEL!!!

Your not wrong, and i didnt read about the tiem scale, i worked in a garage befroe, i know just how strong a car is, but ur probably right about the possibility of bricks crumling, get axle stands, or steelies

Bricks are only good for supporting cars that people have nicked and taken the wheels off  I mean car thieves aren't considerate so they don't use bricks because they work they use them because it gives them time to take the wheels off and F|_|ck off.
