Hiya,

driving my car to work the other day when the engine management light came on. quickly took it into the dealer and he plugged his computer in and got rid of it for me.
thought that would be the end of it coz he said "its a sporadic fault"
lo and behold the things come on again and the technician at v-dub says i need to get the car into diagnostic machine!!
gonna cost £55 + vat then after that any extra charges to fix the prob.
anyone done this b4-is it a common thing? any ideas on what it might be?
any help appreciated (this post is a bit long now!!!!)

thanks

yes - this has happened to me!
Altho, I looked in my manaul, and it said the "CHECK" light is an Emmisions problem. My Car started Juddering and stalling!
ended up costing me nearly £235 - and that was with staff discount (my friend works there on aftersales)

I had this problem, turned out to be a faulty cooling fan. Everytime the car was stopped in traffic the climate would try and cool the car down and so with the fan not working it made the engine rev up and because the fan couldnt cool it down it was overheating. This then f****d up the emmisions etc.

thanx for the info!! :D

i've got the car booked in at v-dub now but the main thing was getting some info on any problems, to get a rough idea of what it might cost and, as i dont know anything about cars i didn't want to sound stoopid!!!!
