yep be careful, maybe 'slice' the glue using some thin fishing wire?

best thing is to use some dental floss, its just as kind and caring to your paintwork as it is to your teeth
(in other words, as its foamy it will minimise surface scratches from occuring.)

I did the same and it was fine....dental floss kept snapping (probably should of used the hair dryer first...but couldn't be bothered) and I couldn't be arsed to wait for my brother to bring some fishing line. So I just ripped them off !
But I used WD40 instead of petrol, cause I didnt have any at the time !

Make sure you heat up the glue first - always a good thing
