hi folks,

can anyone specify the best oil to use for a top up, i have a 2000 1.4 polo that i think is geting a bit thirsty. also, the manual states that i should only use coolant of a type G12 A8D which is only available from a dealer, is this correct or can i use something from halfords?

cheers,

marc

ok i have the same engine with about 20,000 miles on it and use 0w30 oil and even with a red hot engine in theese temps i still gwet reasonable oil pressure
however vw recoment 10/40 minimm this is dependant on milage though as up to about 60,000 i recomend 10/40 and afterr that i recomend thinking of moving to 15/50

as for your coolant question vw2 are wierd like that as using non approved coolant can cause severe block corosion so either go to a dealer or get a coolant that is compatible
