This maybe the wrong forum, nevermind...I dont have central locking on my 2000 1.4 and the drivers side door lock wont depress manually, it'll only lock with the key. How easy is it to fix this problem?
Cheers,
Marc

check the locking pump situate and the back, on the passenger side, behind the lights. There must be a white/black box. Check if the plug is ok.

Mine had some water on it and didn't work at all...had to change it...it a bit expensive...200 €.

Mine doesnt lock on the drivers side press-down pin with the door open.

I've just assumed it was a clever VW way of stopping you locking your keys in the car.

yeah if the door is open then the door pin wont lock the car it will stay in the up position but if your intent on locking your keys in then all you have to do is open the door, place the keys on the seat, press the lock button next to the electric window switch, shut door before the pump finisheds its stuff and voila!!! one very embarresed owner. and in my case realise that your parked outside the dealer and go in to blag a free ride home to get your spare but get taken in a mk4 golf 130tdi 4MO with the sales man giving it big licks

drivers side door pins have never been able to be depressed when the door is open for ages, clever way of stopping u from shutting ur keys in the car. older fords did the same thing, but the way round it was to have the outside door handle in the open postion and push the pin down on the inside! by the way, i hate fords unless they are cossies! lol :D but i'd still rather have a veedub, o and i think volkswagen own cosworth if i remember rightly! 8)
