How much do people put in to fill the tank (roughly) and how many miles do you you get until the light comes on, I want to see a few examples to see whether mine is roughly the same.

From the light just coming on to full it's about 38-39 litres roughly, which is about £36 of Shell Optimax.

That can get me about 300-odd miles of sensible driving.

Give it some stick and it's more like 200-odd.

Well I put £42 in the other day, from the last time I got about 260/270 before the light came on (from £40)

I probably get around 250 miles to a tank, I blame the bmc, it sounds so good I can't help myself

I filled the tank Sunday cost £43 for bp ultimate, put some redex in with it aswell, so far have got 309 miles and still have just under quarter of tank, that has been mostly motorway driving. This has to be a record for me as my usual petrol consumption is awful!!!!

I'm getting about 270 miles from a tank of BP Ultimate, and I fill when the petrol light comes on, or if I'm near the garage I fill when I'm near the redline on hte petrol guage :)

I want a BMC though! *sigh*

So it is about right then, just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong consumption wise. My iron foot probably doesn't help much

It costs me about £36 to fill it with Optimax from when the light goes on and I can get 300 miles before it lights up again, 80% of which is probably motorway driving. If I drive it hard, which my baby loves then I get about 280 miles...then with the roof bars/rack I get barely 260 miles...

But that you have to realise that no two drivers are the same, engines, driving style so you only get a rough idea...whether your engine is performing as it should.

And the amount you put in, I put £42, one other person just said £43, another said £38 and you've just said £36.

How come that varies as well?

When I last filled from the petrol light coming on, I put in £37 at 99.9p per litre. Each car will be different and all of us will probably pay differing prices for fuel around the country depending on where we live, plus it depends on if you fill up with regular 95RON or premium (Ultimate or Optimax) 98RON fuel! Lots of variables to take into account!

Fuel prices, well regular petrol in Shrewsbury is 92.9p per litre, I went to Llanfair in Wales on Monday and as I travelled into Wales the price was rising by penny at a time and at Llanfair the nearest garage to my destination was charging 95.9p per litre :P

When i drive its usually motorway driving (and I TRY to take it slow cause the car revs high at mway speeds)

I get about 310ish to the tank (i dont let the light come on usually). If i use optimax I get atleast another 40miles and the car feels a little more puncy. But recently ive been putting normal stuff in cause optimax is about 98p/litre at the mo.

i did about 250 miles off a full tank, got my BMC today though fitting it when i get my oil breather tomorrow, will see how much miles i get with that. Depends what sort of noise it makes i might not do too much mileage for my money if it sounds nasty

I use optimax........ around 97.9 a litre........ so costs around 38-40 quid for a tank...... I usually manage around 280-300 miles before the light comes on.... and around 310-330 miles before i reckon i'm 'running on fumes'.

Cheers

I used to get about 280 miles between refills in the GTi, which I think is about right.

I now get between 290 and 320 miles (and on a motorway, up to 360 miles) from £35 worth of diesel... With 185-190bhp and 290-300lbft
