well now i know there is some other people who know about there audio, jl audio i mean, lol.

yea i have just sold my 500/1 and w3 to upgrade to a 1000/1 a w7 and two 300/2 to power a set of jl audio ZR componenets that havent yet arrived in the uk, there are only one set of them at the moment and i have been reported to be getting the second pair, at a reasonable £600 for a pair.

w6 are good but i am going for w7 as they are nearly distortion free which means that on full they won't hurt your ears and won't damage your hearing as much as a w3 or even w6 would do, but i could stand here all day explaining the pro's and cons of W7's but it is personal choice and cost, etc.

The W6V2 uses pretty much the same technology as the W7, the main difference is in the magent size and the motor structure and assembley.

The only reason i didnt go for a W7 and a 1000/1 is i didnt want to lose my entire boot!. im going with a stealth box and a W7 will not only not fit depth wise but it would simply make the box disintegrate. nope, 500 pure regulated RMS watts and a W6V2 D4 will do me nicely ta! The irony is i had thhe option of taking a W7 even cheaper than i did a W6!!

oh- and the ZR's should be arriving in our warehouse in about two weeks. As far as i am aware any ZR's in the country right now will be grey imports, we havent taken delivery of any shipments yet so if there ARE any sets in thhe UK, they wont be warrentied by us as we havent let them loose yet!!

I think we are taking an initial delivery of 50-60 sets, i have reserved a few of them to send out for review to magazines and one set for me (so i should have the first official set ;) ) have had the TI elites under my bed for ages- havent installed them and they may go up for sale- just like the DLS amp ive just sold- think i just like to hoard ICE

they are not grey imports my friend, have you never heard of SOURCE SOUNDS they are one of the best in ICE and largest supplies of JL AUDIO and they got a pair givin to them by one of JL directors or something like that. as they have a replica clio v6 completly kitted out with jl audio, logo's the lot, and JL borrow it every now and then to use as a demonstration plus they have spoken with JL and they are getting a second pair delievered on the 17th or 19th of a second pair of them, which has my name on them. and are also covered by warranty.

it's not what you know it's who you know, lol.

you obviously know abit about audio but the only reason i know differences between W6 AND W7 is that the main guy from JL was there at the IASCA last month and i was introduced to him and got talking about which is better, etc etc.

sorry m8 you may have the third official pair, but not the first

but anyway they are deffinetly worth the wait they sound superior, and at £600 they are giving them away.

You mean Steve Turrissi, he is one of the guys from JL audio in the states and was over around that time. He might have given a sample set to source sounds when he was over here, but that probably wont be warrentied by us as we never purchased them. As for who you know- I speak to the guy once a week along with various other manufacturers.

Source sounds are one of our customers, as are every other authorised dealer in the UK. as for their demo car, i cant speak for that as im not completely sure who sponsored it- but i wouldnt be surprised if that was BBG as well. We tend to get dealers to build the demo cars for us as it keeps our industry relations strong. The SQ+ audi A4- that was commisioned by us amongst many others. when these companies say its a "JL audio" demo car, its because they have the freedom to do that from us. It works both ways, they build a car, they get the recognition for it, people want JL kit because of it and our sales go up from all directions- not just any single dealer.

Dude, in the UK JL audio does not HAVE a base, they are represented by BBG distribution who have the exclusive import and distribution rights on JL, phoenix gold, streetwires, MTX and dynamat, if the products are bought in by ANYONE other than BBG, there is no warrenty- period.

and the reason i know all of this 1) I have been keeping a keen eye on the ZR range myself! 2) im the marketing manager at BBG!!

www.bbg-av.com (websites a tad out of date but gives you a good idea who we are)

oh ok, well my mistake, i am not sure either about who sponsored the clio myself but it does look mint.

well i will have to speak to ppl at source as they said they was going to be a delivery on the 19th i think and said they should be on that, they spoke to someone over the fone last week i not sure who it was but it might have been someone from BBG but carn't be sure.

well i may wait til the official ones arrive if am not going to be getting a warranty, you say two weeks, well if i can recall they were meant to be out beggining of september, do you know why they were a delay?

well it was someone who i know said that source was a main jl dealer, must have either got wrong end of stick, or he did.

when you said a W7 would make the box disintegrate did you mean just the stealth boxes?

My guess is source ARE on the first delivery as they are one of our bigger independant ICE customers (along with SQ+, Sextons, Huets etc), if they have reserved a set then you should have them- i have no doubt about that.

Release dates im not sure about of the top of my head, you are right that they should have been released by now but as with anything, on a project this sort of size things rarely run exactly on time!

Tell you what though, Im getting a set on my desk as soon as they land in our warehouse, when that happens il drop you a pm/email to let you know they are in UK. (it might be earlier than two weeks, but thats what I was told by the operations guy who deals with thhe shipping logisitics and freight) :)

Source sounds ARE a JL audio authorised dealer, but they get that authorisation from both us AND JL because we are the UK distributor of the product if you see what i mean. :)

yep- W7's need some serious build quality in whatever box they go in. not to say that the stealth boxes arent built well, thats not the case. But given the box volume (FAR too small for a W7) plus the fact they use standard 18mm MDF bonded to a fiberglass backing, a W7 would simply be too much for a box like that.

I tried lifting one of the W7 original enclosures in the warehouse last week. nearly took my back out!

AWESOME subs- but to get the best of them you MUST put them in a solidly built enclosure with a decent box volume as well. they sound nice sealed but i prefer them ported in a big box tuned to around 30htz. goes loud and sounds very musical- pretty much no distortion so long as you give them adequate power as well.

yea i see what you mean, yea my company has just had a new building put up and that has been put back several months due to one thing and another going wrong.

i seam to have heard of BBG before i think there are posters etc around at source am sure thats were av seen them.

cheers for letting me know when they arrive.

well i was going for either one w7 or two w6 but decided on w7 for the quallty but have only heard them set up for sound quality rather then bass so was left in the dark, i have heard two w6 running off a 1000/1 and they was very impressive, but still undecided, i still want loads a bass to show off to people, lol but want to be able to compete with a good quality sounding system, thats why i want the ZR's

then i was thinking off 2 MTX 5500 12" just cos mtx are outstanding in the bass department, but still running JL for the R.I.P.S.

what is your suggestion
