I am interested in importing a Polo dash to put into my A1 Cabriolet. I'd like to see pics of MK6 dashes, and hear your opinions on fitment issues and wiring issues. IE. is a MK6 polo much wider than an A1/Golf1?

PICS would be MUCH appreciated

OH, and how are the cupholders? Good? Easy to use and stable?

If you want an interesting dash swap that would stand a better chance of fitting in a MK1 Golf, what about taking one from a Lupo / MK5 Polo (same dash)? I know that this dash will fit an MK2 Golf -- I'd guess that it'd fit an MK1 golf as well.

Oi! There I was, looking for a pic of an MK6 dash - and I noticed your post on the vortex - basically speedlaw and I concurr - MK6 is not the way to go, but MK4 Polo or MK5 Polo / Lupo would stand a better chance of working.

You ask where the cupholders are on the above pic - they're under the silver front of the stereo - there's two of them, horizontally in the dahs - much like an MK4 Golf.

Anyway - here's a better picture of the dash in lhd (this is a non-GTI one):

This is the best I can do to anwser your question about a lower support bar - there is a shelf, but don't know if there's anything structural behind it.

Saw it... thanks for the reply... Not really seeing the diff between the GTI vs non GTI dash.

Centerconsole seems to have a lot of action as well. AC controls an easy swap over? (IYO...)

There are two variations of the MK5 dash - one with a single arched "binnacle cover" that spans both round dails and makes space for a little analogue clock between them (I'm pretty sure this is the GTI), and another with two small "binnacle covers", one above each round dial and no space for the clock. Although I might have this completely the wrong way round!

I think the heater controls on the MK5 are an electric module - i.e. no direct mechanical link back to the heater matrix but, again, not sure about this. The guys in MK5 will put you (and me) straight!
