Starnge noise...

On my '85 Coupe S I have a noise coming from the right of the car at the fron.
Hard to describe, sounds almost like a belt slipping but varies with speed.
Thought might be a wheel bearing, but never heared a worn wheel bearing make that kind of noise before
Any sugestions?
