Ive got a dilemma!

I was talking to a mate with the engine running and all of a sudden the revs dipped and it started to misfire, it sounds to me as if its running on three cylinders (I havent had anyones oppinion on this yet).

Has anyone had this problem aswell?

What cured it?

Thanks guys help is appreciated

AFAIK the first things to check would be your HT Leads and Spark Plugs

ROTOR ARM!!!

Any VW dealer should beable to supply one for a few quid

Personally if I replace the Rotor I do the Dizzy Cap too (Distributor cap)

If one is worn/corroded/arc'd out the other will be too

You can go Aftermarket as an alternative but they are often not as good a quality - no offence intended to anyone who does use pattern parts but just my experience

I cant believe it!

Sounds like this is happening to me. Fúcking car sounds like a Suberau 8)

Its going slow as hell, i mean hitting 20 mph in about 10 seconds in first gear with the foot down!

Sparkplugs then?

Is it still ok to drive while the car is misfiring?

NO - it kills the cat and thats an expense you don't want at MOT time......

Just to second bstardchild, DON'T drive it with a mis-fire! The cat will get flooded with fuel and die which costs £££ to replace :(

Replace the dizzy cap and rotor arm and see how you go. If it's still a problem then HT leads are the next suspect.

Good luck!
