Hey all just registered as im thinking of getting a polo GTi.
One thing that puts me off is the performance,
Had a quick flick through the forum and cant find any confirmation that it is possible to charge a gti?
If anyone knows if this is possible could you please let me know? Or do you think i would be better off putting a 225 s3/tt 20v in

!

Thanks for the quick reply there.
How much ive got to spend depends on how much it costs,
I was hoping it would be around 3-4k...

I got a quote on behalf of a mate for supercharging his GTi, price was £3k for the full job which would give a total bhp of around the 200 mark.

Abit more that 3 grand I think! its cheaper and would be more reliable to put a 1.8T in, you got to get the charger, forged pistons, stand alone ECU, custom mounting brackets, pipe work, intercooler, belts, pulleys, injectors, gaskets (have I missed anything?) for the first 3 you are talking over 3 grand. To do it yourself I would say 4 grand pos 5 and allot of time yourself! Any good at welding or machining? Got access to the machines? if not for the machining your talking £35 per hour (and they won't rush) I recon for 4 grand you could drop a 1.8T in yourself. its all big money and big wheel spin! Front wheel drive without a LCD

so put on an extra £250 in tyres a year
Can you tell i was going to do this untill i realised it was abit daft! 200BHP is the most you will get! .

Well that's the quote I got when I rang a tuning company, who have done lots of work on all my mates cars, my Sisters car and soon to be my Golf.

Sounds like it could get very expensive!!
tom_mk5 what was the firm who gave you a quote of 3 grand?
Why cant it be as simple as charging a vts/106 gti

One of my old school mates has a uncle with his own garage which has recently aquired a total rear ender G40
He's the one doing my new gearbox and clutch (all for £380 inc labour, which is bloody good) and he says he is going to look into sticking the charger etc out of the g40 into mine for next to nothing as he fancies the challenge
bargain!!!
