basically all you'll need to do is shave off the mk5 lugs, and then stick them on with 3M mastic. I've heard double sided tape works too!

easy as pie 8)

£45 for preprimed Mk5 strips
I was weighing up the cost of just painting the Mk4 ones and getting Mk5 ones painted... unless I look for ones off a red Mk5

i was going to paint my mk4 strips, but the body shop i use advised me not 2, as it would take too much work (which would cost too much money) to prepare the strips for painting, becasue as they are textured the paint wont stick properly to it, or something along those lines.

I was also going to have the mk5 primered ones from VW, but i thought that if someone does open their door onto mine and hits the painted strip, then i have to have the strip painted too, whcih will cost more money. Atleast with the black strips any marks will just come out with some autoglym bumpercare.

And finally, the mk5 strips on mine are fitted with some sort of double sided tape, im not 100% sure what it is as the body shop did it whilst it was in for painting. All that needs doing is the clips need removing on the back of the strips 8)

You can have it painted while it's textured, but it just wouldn't look as good, I had that choice with my splitter, they asked me if I wanted it left textured or de-textured. I chose de-textured just because it looks better.

Is there no way to DIY de-texture the side strips and splitter? :(
And then just get a pro to do the painting onces its been prepped?

DIY de-texture = various grades of wet and dry paper along with elbow grease :D

Was just at a resprayed/auto body shop today, the guy was doing my oil for me... he sed to get my strips and the front splitter sprayed red would cost a total of £180!!!
Including taking them off sanding them down and prepping them I think.
Still quite a lot to put in... especially on the front splitter as if its painted it'll suffer stone chips like no body's business
