Car won't start :(

Ok this morning I try to start the car, and all that happens is the starter motor turns over, but the engine doesn't even try to chug into life.
I'm guessing theres no spark, possibly immobiliser related? Seems similar to what happened on my last car.
The are no warning lights on the dash, and I do have some fuel in the tank
I'll call out the RAC tonight, and i'll have a look at the fuses just in case.
Anyone have any ideas?
cheers
mike

Hi,
I had similar symptoms to you a couple of weeks ago and it turned out to be the MAP sensor and the O2 sensor. £250 later, the car is back to life!!! Hope that helps. Also I never noticed the EPC light come on until the AA got me to the garage. It happened last months once, but I did not take any notice as the car fired up again after 10 minutes. Also, my air filter was oily and the oil was 1.5 litres over the max line. All these problems caused my ride to stop. Hope this helps ya?

I had the same as theclient, car wouldn't start, very similar symptoms, and it was the ignition switch with my car too. I found that the first time it happened to me, I left it for a few minutes and tried again, and the engine fired up OK.

thanks for the replies guys.
Unfortunately I don't have my spare key with me as I'm 125 miles away from home. The key I have unlocks the car fine, but I'm not sure how it disables the immobiliser.
The battery is fine, everything else in the car seems to work, just not the engine lol.
Hopefully its just the ignition switch, although I'll bet VW try to blame something on my BMC CDA!
thanks for the suggestions,
mike

yeah the ignition switch failed on my 1.0l mk5. probably my own fault as i had a load of keys on the car key
mine was fixed under warranty tho! but i did read somewhere that ignition switch/barrel failure on the mk5 is common!

all solved now...
the plugs had got covered in fuel...

caused by running the engine for a very short period of time.
it needed a good blast of around 20 seconds of cranking with the throttle fully open for it to fire up!
doh!
