So just the sensor was buggered ? or an actual problem, if its goign to cost £160 to get fixed ie replaced, it can wait lol.
But it only came on after i filled up the tank with optimax

but it asn't on this morning

so it booked in for a service on sat.

Could be one of any number of component failures or just a 'glitch' in the system giving a false alert.
First safety related question is - Do your brakelights work?
Reason for this is failure of the brakelight switch can trigger this warning lamp. A common result is no brakelamps (fairly dangerous). If you're faced with this situation I'd suggest using your foglamps to signal you are braking until you get the fault resolved.
In addition to this possibility it's equally a faulty/sooted up lambda probe, a partially collapsed catalytic convertor, stiff throttle valve control flap, malfunctioning ECM, etc, etc, etc.
Take it to someone who can read the fault codes and run a few diagnostic checks and you'll soon find out if there's anything to worry about.
Hope you get sorted,
Jay
