Help needed.

ok where to start....
My car doesnt seem to be idling correctly. When i start my car most days i am welcomed by the car reving itself. My car normal sits at about 9 on revs counter then it revs up to about 11 and back down again about every 3 seconds. This also makes my headlights dim slightly at night or any interior lights that are on at the time.
Also when i go to accelerate i'll find i have a flat spot and then suddenly it'll kick in.
Its really starting to annoy me and i think its getting worse. I actually have to sumtimes sit while my foot slightly on the gas when at lights becasue some ppl think am reving.
Help!!!!
My cars due a service now so hoping to find out what it is offa you and direct the mechanics in the ryt direction.
