Hi,

The battery on my '98 1.4 CL is gone and I need to get one sharpish.

Anyone got any recommendations?

I've heard Bosch Silver Plus ones are v.good. Any other makes with good rep?

Also is it worth paying extra for an uprated version?

Thanks,
Mo

Unless your running a large ice system a battery is pretty much a battery. The best brand i've come accross though is exide.

I believe a mk4 1.4 should be running a 063, if you wanted to upgrade it you could fit an 065, which is slightly longer and weighs a lot more, but has a lot more amp hours.

If you have a partco/unipart centre near you ask for a GBA3063 or GBA3065. Both are labelled samson but are made by exide and have a three year guarantee. The 063 shouldn't set you back more than £30 and the 065 £35 (well thats what we charge down here anyway). Hope this helps

^ As above.... the standard one can easily handle a down to earth sound system (unless you're running 1000s of watts) Prices will be more in London tho... I had a little look when I had my sounds done in the summer and the price range is about £50-£65

I've got standard sounds no amp etc.

£30-35? I couldn't even get a battery for a Mini round here for that

I've heard the best types of battery are those with Silver and Calcium technology, that's why I was looking at the Bosch. I've also heard that Varta do a Silver version too.

Thanks,

£30ish later, new battery fitted...all shiney and black...works too, which is nice :)

Didn't care what it was, needed one like now
