Hi

Would like to give my polo a little fresh look, i have just got a new red gti badge of ebay...£2.50! and would like a bit of red trim on the grill to go with it!

I hope Grum doesn't mind me using his pic (i want to black my b-pillar like his too  )

One of our members, PoloGTi (aka J.T.) has done this mod to his black GTi. In fact I think that's his car in the large pic above... if I remember rightly he used some red tape he found at a craft shop or similar for about 50p a reel! Ask any of the guys and gals who were at VWNW back in August and they'll tell you that I had a bit of a game applying the same tape he used to my own grille at the time - it really needs a hairdryer to help the tape stick securely!

Cue lots of laughs at the spider's web in my engine bay too

But yeah, it's been DIY'd, and it's not too hard if you have a hairdryer to hand when you apply the tape... ROFL!

I've done the same trim on my Silver GTi........... Halfords red stripe stuff..... The stuff you use as speed stripes down the side of 1988 Ford Sierras....... about 4mm wide i think.....

i just used red electrical tape on mine but took my time so it looks good and nobody who ever looks at it can tell its just tape! :D

only thing with the tape is to make sure u dont hit the spars of the grill as the tape stick up on these and looks messy so make sure to take ur time!

look how good it looks in this pic....

ooooo, think im on my own here but....i dnt think the gti grill suits the red tape to well, maybe theres a reason why vw didnt do it as factory fit, nice to see something different tho!
