Hi all,

Just recently purchased a polo for my sister and it was a bit of a hasty decision cos i needed it fast so i dont know much about it yet. I was hoping you all could tell me!
but yea its a 1.4 16v mkiv polo (I hope). 15" wheels, performance exhaust, lowered, interiors very clean, about 45,000 miles, clear rear lights, coloured brake calipers (red front, black rear) and thats probably about it.
so here it is (pics taken on my phone :D)

I know it needs a clean but its been too cold!
There's a few things i dont like, like the rear lights, need 'em changed, and i might need the exhaust changed to something a bit more 'formal' like a milltek due to this one making a lot of noise and scraping the floor over bumps and stuff. also can anyone tell by how much it was lowered? thanks.

Nice 16v.

Glad you're not keen on the rear lights either!

When I bought my 16v it had a pair of those lights in a box in the boot, but that's as close to the car as they're ever gonna get!

So what kinda stuff is it you're unsure of :?:

Very nice car once you wash it you may wanna keep it for yourself, Black cars look dam sexy once clean and throughly waxed......

I got my black polo last week I made sure I got a couple of wax coats on there as this cold wet weather can affect paint wrk, hopefully try to clean it again tommorrow.

Used to have a Mk4 polo, which was lowerd 40mm that was a brill to drive, loved the handling like a go kart........

Current Car has 1 year used warrentee so cant do nuffin till this time next year..................

POST some pics once its clean.......

can you guess what it is?? :P

Im also a member of uk-mkivs.net which is how I know about this place!
Yea the car does handle like a go-kart very stable and its got a nice driving feel.
however what i wanted more info. on was stuff like:

what are the performance figures of this model? BHP/torque etc.

Are there any common faults on this model to look out for?

I wana change the rear lights but what other options are there?

And the exhaust might need changing also so what options are there for that?
thanks guys.

1.8T is it? ^^^

Polo wise,
All data can be found here

8)

Common faults, there's a thread dedicated to it at the top of the mk4 section!

Rear lights wise, most people tend to go for mk5 (all red) lights, as they're easily available and fit straight on with a bit of tweaking.

Exhaust wise... I have a Janspeed backbox, it's very raspy! Not offensively loud either, until you boot it!

There's quite a few sets of LED rears available too, as you'll see on other memeber's cars. I personally have kept my standard 16v (tinted) lights on, until I find something I like.

Hope this helps

Needs a few more things done to it like colour coded side strips and valances but i might just leave it like that cos i dont wana spend too much on it. rather wait till i get a more powerful engine.

The rear lights I think ill have a look around for some pics to see what looks good then decide.

The exhaust really needs changing as it keeps shaking and making noises as if its rubbing on something. again I'll just have a look around at some pictures and see what I like.

thanks mate.
