GTI Standard Fit ICE - Codes??

I'm will have to disconnect my battery to do some electical work. Is the std radio coded and will this have to be reset if the battery is disconnected :?:

I disconnected my battery for like 36 hours and didnt need to radio code.

The radios do have codes, check your car handbook for the radio manual, it should be in there

If the radio is the original one supplied with the car (from factory, not like a gamma or beta from another vw for example) then it has been 'coded' in the ECU I believe to match the car

So when you take it out or disconnect the power, once you power it up again, the ECU knows this is the correct car for this radio serial and does not ask for the code

or something,,, this does not work for me though, with a factory gamma, always wants the code after being disconnected

if you need to code, VW will sort it out, hopefully free :)
