I just got a Pipercross Induction Kit for Christmas. Following the instructions I proceeded to destruct my engine with not a care in the world. I have taken the cover to the air filter off, as well as the air filter, and the part at the bottom, thus leaving me with this:

The last step said:

Step 4: Remove 2 screws inside canister holding the bottom part of the canister and remover canister bottom... etc.

The part I am stuck on:

Step 5: Remove original rubber seal on management system.

I fail to see what the management system is and where the hell the rubber seal is. I presume the only way to access it is to take off the nut holding down the black casing using an allen key. However, the thing is bloody stuck. I have tried for half an hour to loosen it with no luck, and as it's starting to slip round, resulting in a rounded off hole, I decided to stop. The nut I am talking about is in the third picture.

I apologise for my lack of techincal terminology, as I really don't know much about engines at all.

Please someone help, I don't wanna put back the whole thing, it took me long enough to get this far! It doesn't help that it's cold and dark, but I really want to get this done today, I'm taking my gf shopping tomorrow, for the sales and I need to sort it asap!

If anyone has any suggestions....

I'm sure everyone knows what car it is from the engine, but just in case:
6N 1.4 16v '99.

Thank you in advance for any response!

ignore the instructions its easy...

all you do is remove the whole airbox- so you've got halfway through this and now you need to remove the bottom half as well.

As far as i remember there are about 2-3 allen head bolts holding it on.

the 4th holding part is the rubber bung thing around the metal you see in the top left corner of the box in PIC 1. this means once you take the bolts out you have to wiggle the airbox off.

I think you'll find there is one allen bolt in the hole next to the throttle body, normally when you have your airbox lid on there is a badge...and the bolt is under this badge when you pry it off...

take the box off...the rubber ring they are chatting about probably relates to the throttle body itself, you can see that in PIC 1 also...the big shiny thing which is about 60mm in diameter.

there should be a 90deg. bend with the pipercross kit, attach that and use common sense for the rest...good luck and glad you got something you wanted. lol...Sanj.

Thank you very much dubbprince. I ended up putting it all back about an hour ago as well! I'm tempted to try again, but think I'll leave it until tomorrow, quite late now!

Thank you again, much appreciated. Merry Christmas!

That's okay, don't mind. I still have my Clio, every time I get in it when the polo is in the garage or elsewhere, I just get that inital shock when I start driving. "Tin can" describes it perfectly!
