When should a cam belt be changed on a 1 litre Mk4 - Is it a hard job?

Call your local VW dealer's service department and ask, as they have been known to change from what it says in the service book.
Only a competant mechanic should change a cambelt. If it's done wrong, your engine is screwed.

Thanks for the help guys - It's on 81K, so I'll change it over the holidays.
