Stopping mobile phone signal interference

I've got a VW gamma stereo and no matter if i listen to the radio, tape or cd changer i constantly get a interference noise, like the one you get when a mobile phone is near to the stereo (an intermittent bleeping noise).
Is there anyway to get rid of this? I do put my mobile in the slot underneath the stereo and would like to continue to do so. Surely you can buying something to stop this?

Not that I'm aware of, only solution I can think of is put it somewhere else, although if my phone is under there, it makes no difference.
Don't know if that's just because I listen to CD's

i thought it was something to do with the speakers rather than the stereo, because my pc speakers pick up mobile interferance from passers by....i'm sure some electronic things come with a little circular gizmo which wraps around the wires and helps, don't know of where you get them or if they even do aftermarket ones.

Well I think it's picked up through the Radio though, because if you turn the radio right down you can still hear it, whereas if you turn the radio off it stops.

you could always try putting your stero in a faridays cage. it basicly stops EMI (electro magnetic intererance) altho most radios have it built in ie the metal sheth it comes in and then the radio cage it clips into.
you could always try grounding the radio cage if its not already grounded( connect it to the chassis)

Screened speaker cable.

My stereo doesn't have a cage, it just slots into its dash space. I've found interference suppressors but these seem to only stop electrical interference.

its not to do with the speakers, or the speaker cable.
Its specifically picked up by the on board amplifier in the head unit. there isnt really any way to stop it without fully sheilding the headunit itself.
its the same in pc speakers or even the speakers in a tv. even those will all have a little amplifier of some kind.
A copper chassis around the head unit would probably help with this and some head units do have a copper chassis as well. however most head units that have a copper chassis tend to be very high end and wouldnt have any internal amplifier anyway
Most full on SQ head units such as the Alpne F1 status units, the Denon Z1, The clarion DRZ-9255, pioneer P9 etc dont have internal amps but these units are all £1000+ in price.

is that not what i said about 3 posts up. exept you put it in a more intellegent form.

no it isnt- it clarifies that it has nothing to do with the speakers, the cable or the radio and is specific to the on board amplifier.
