no plans at the mo. possibly a set of dished 17's. not 18s tho (too expensive and it'll compromise the luxury ride lol)

Good choice and nice spec on the Sport model. My dad has a 100bhp TDI Passat and my brother-in-law has the 130bhp TDI Highline. They are nice cars to drive - excellent cruisers.

I've had both the 100 TDI and 130 TDI in my Polos. You will love the 130 with all that torque. I've only covered 2,000 miles so far in the new car but the difference from the 100 is very noticeable and the 6 speed gearbox is sweet.

Good choice...I'm on my second one as I loved the first one so much. My current one is remapped to 180PS, although the torque is what I was really after pulling from about 1100rpm in 4th gear

Economy has really been affected either...averaging 49.3mpg over the past 29,000 miles

I've heard that the torque spike can kill the 1.9 engine - had any trouble with the remap?

None whatsoever...I had it done as soon as I'd put 2,500 miles on the car to run it in, and haven't had a button of trouble

The previous car was mapped to 150PS and I ran it for 60,000 miles without a problem.

My only other advice would be to avoid 17" wheels with the sports suspension...I had them for about 6 months on my previous car and the ride is appalling ...although maybe I'm getting too old!

Really? I was thinking of getting some deep 5 spokes (similar to the standard merc wheels)

i guess it has sportier suspension being a sport model, or am I wrong?! holw bad was it with 17's?

The "sports" suspension is definitely firmer than the standard set up (I always notice this when I have a service courtesy car...it feels as if it's going over on corners!)...I had a set of 17's running 215/45 Conti Sports and hated it!

VW didn't offer the factory option of 17's on the Sport, unless the sport swuspension was deleted...I appreciated why afterwards.

Of course, it's only personal opinion ...I would suggest either getting a drive in a car with 17's or, picking up a cheap set of wheels which you know you can sell on if you don't like the ride...
