Clutch

I had my car in for a service there yesterday and I was told that the clutch isn't long for this world. I suspected this for the last couple of weeks because of the smell but there wasn't and real slipping. It's the Valeo one and I want to replace it with the Sachs.

The problem is that when the mechanic was ringing around, the local VW dealership said they couldn't get them and an independent VW parts supplier didn't think that Sachs did one for the GTI.

As I'm in Ireland, I'm now looking at getting one in from Britland. Can anyone suggest the best way of scoring one from across the water?

taken from the eurocarparts online site. both those clutches are the same part and its the first one you need to order (the second part number has been superseeded to the first one)

I know this as i used to work for them and have the same one on my GTI.

So long as your engine code is an ARC engine (which was on most of the polo GTI's- some of them had an AVY engine thoguh- same as the Lupo)that should be the right one. It might fit if its an AVY but im not 100% certain on that.

Cheers lads. It's cheaper than I thought as well. I thought I'd be looking at about 120-140 sterling.
