I have just finished installing my sub and amp to my9n. Once it was wired up I turned on the head unit and...BOOM!

Theres the base, a shedload of it!!
To try and solve this i turned down the subwoofer settings on my headunit, despite doing this the bass is still over powering my new component speakers. Will i need more speakers to overcome this or is there something im doing wrong?!

The sub will either be 4ohms or 2ohms mate not 4 and 1.
With that kind of power you should be fine, I was running a 600w RMS sub with 400w RMS and I could stil hear my comps over my su, and that was with the fade set more to the rear!
Have you tried altering the settings for the speakers?

I just copied all of that from the JBL site so
It just seems to be really loud! All I get is sh!t loads of bass, my nodding dogs head popped off!
When i increase the volume of the headunit to try and get more out of my speakers the base just over powers it to a point whre the amp cuts it off.....

That may be your problem then, it sound as though the settings on your amp are too high, the amp will turn off because it cant cope with the load on it, which may mean the gains are too high.
Also, how have you got it wired?

Ive got the power cable up the left hand side of the car, phono cables up the right(middle) and the remote up the left(middle) all proper
Whould that make a difference then?

That shouldn't matter, you're not supposed to run the power and RCA cables next to each other, that interferes with the signal, but like I say, it saounds as though your gains are too high on the actual amp if it goes into protection when you turn it up.

Right-e-oh I'll have a fiddle with the dials tomorrow, cheers mate.
Oh and one more thing, did 400 RMS not shake your car to pieces?!
Mines 300 and my boot rattels when you hear it from the outside.

thats crazy! And nothing ratteled on the exterior of your car?! (minus the phone!)
Do you know any way of stopping this?

Sound deadning would, although it CAN get expensive, the only thing that rattled on mine was the passenger door.
