Will a Golf 4 gearknob fit?

I've tried to find a decent gearknob for some time now, but I haven't gotten one to my liking yet.
Now, I came across a pic of this Golf Mk4 gearknob in a Polo (Mk4) and I like the way it looks.
Now I wanted to ask 'will it fit' but the picture more or less proves that- but does anyone know how hard/difficult it is, and if it's just a snap on job or if it's a major headache? Don't Golfs have different fitments? (i.e. cable linkage and rods have different ways of mounting the knob)
Thanks in advance-

i think the mk4 polo uses the same mounting as the mk5*(see below) so as long as the golf does then it will be simple. it the golf is the scew type then its even easier; get the knob and some strong glue (winscrean adhesive or similar) squeeze some of the glue into the gear knob and press it into place and leave to set (6-8 hrs) and its done
* the mounting in the mk5 is wierd; to remove it you have to pull the gator upwards so it releces at the bottom and comes all the way up above the knob. you will then see the base of the gear knob and a big piece of blue plastic, with a clamop round it, cut this clamp off. you might then reveal another metal ring which also has to be cut off. pull upwards on the knob. the real pita is to get the gaitor off as it is under the clip from hell (so to speek) after the knob is removed the top of the shaft is like this : D so you neet to fit tha correct adapter as normal over this. then fit gear knob and tichten grub screws.
i just did mine and will put pics up in min

Thanks for the hints- I think the Mk4 knob is removed the same way yours is, it's held in place with a clamp of some sort.
Doesn't the '98 model (Mk4) have this new-style look too? That would then probably be the closet match to mine. I still have that old horrible pointy shape, if you know what I mean.

i was looking in the tech maual for the mk4 this morning and soaw that they are clamped but seen as your is based on a mk3 (they are screwed) i thought is wight be threaded
any way heres what i did:

stock (yes i know its a tip but josh already told me that so you dont need to

)

stock height with a momo kob and ritchbrook coller (looks even higher to me)

cut with momo knob only cos it wont go that short with it on but i cut mine a little to short and hat to lift the knob until i could get to the grub screws
and yes it is shorter than yours but we dont kneed those kind of jokes here

Excellent pics mate! So your original (Mk5) is clamped then right? Doesn't look bad compared to what I've got now. Love the new look though, nice and low. I'll have a look in the partssystem to figure out how the Mk5 is fitted exactly.
