how to reset service interval

if youve ever had a service done at a garage apart from vw or even done one your self then you will have a new code on your milage display every time you start the car. it will read something like this "IN01" or "IN02" or somthing like that. to remove this follow these simple steps.
this should work on any vw with a digital odometer (6n2 mk5 verified and 6n mk4 soloud be the same, also applys to golf 3/4)

1. with the key out of the ign find and press the reset button (hold down)
2. turn the ign on (warning lights come on) wait about 10-15 sec till most or the lights are off ( still pushing button)
3. turn ign off (button still pressed) and remove the key
4. release button
5. see if interval has stopped, if not then follow 1-4 again
have fun

can you help me with mine,

when i do it on mine after step 4 it just says OEL and if i press the reset button its changes to IN01 and if i press it again it it goes to IN02 then if i press it again it goes back to OEL and so on. this goes away when i switch the ign on again.

you say wait till all the lights go off but on mine the oil, battery and handbrake just stay on with ignition

this is wierd because my polo has always been serviced at veedub

plz hlp

Anyone any idea what the SERV INSP actually means? I've had the OIL one come up before but now I have the SERV INSP and I'm not exactly sure what I'm ment to be doing, is it basically just a full service like oil, plugs, air filter, check cambelt etc

Just to let everyone know, I have used this for my wifes old Arosa and it work great, however, her new car is a Leon. if you want to reset the service oil on this you have to add a further step to the instructions:

press and hold the button
switch on ignition
keep button depressed for 15 seconds
start engine (with button still depressed)
stop engine and remove key
release button.

Hope this helps 8)
