hi guys, i'm gonna get some tyres for my alloys that i've been refurbing soon, i'll be getting 165/65/14's and i'm trying to decide which make is best, heres the choices...
Falken Sincera SN 828 - £26.63 (per corner)
Pirelli P3000 - £29.52
Goodyear GT2 - £31.01
Toyo 330 - £31.48
Goodyear GT3 - £32.36
Michelin Energy E3A - £35.20
Bridgestone B391 - £38.14
Continental Eco Contact 3 - £39.22
Bridgestone RE96 - £44.17
Any advice would be greatly apreciated, i don't have a clue, i'd just go for the pirelli or toyos because i know the make is good and they're cheap but those models might have reputations.

secondaly, i'm not very up on which tyres are best but i can tell you that i am using toyos on my G40, and they seem to handle the power quite well!

firstly, thats an interesting size tyre!
i've got 14" wheels, and the widest i can go on my squareback without arch work is 165 and 165/65/14 is apparently the size i need too keep my speedo okay etc

lol, easy mistake to make! once you get them numbers into your head, they start messing around!
so i take it 165/65/14 is what you mean! how wide are these rims u've got?

6J, scirocco scalas.....i'm bout 99% sure it'll fit okay, wheels just clear the suspension and the tyres are thinner than the edges of the wheels so it should be okay

right o, obviously those rear arches are a pain in the arse when it comes to getting tyres for them! i haven't experienced this yet with my squareback!

as its still on the steelies!

i wanted 13" BBS like yours just to avoid the arches but they go for over £100 on ebay in poor condition....i got some scalas for £38 and have been refurbing them.

i reckon they'll look spot on! bbs ra's are what i want for my mk2 squareback, with a big drop, or maybe just g40 suspension! hmmm, i really must stop looking ahead and get my mk3 out the way first!

i got these wheels about a year ago, refurbed 3 of them with polished alloy and then got a job and they've sat in the corner of my room for ages till now when i've got my act together and should have the last one done by tomorrow.

hence thinking bout tyres

you really want a 50 or 55 profile on those- 65 is asking for trouble

i just checked the tyre size calculator and it says the speedo would only be out by 2mph, so i thought yea i'll go for 55 profile just to be safe...nowhere sells 165/55/14's

always the way

I've had my squareback on 165/65/R14's without a problem. Though it is on stock suspension. No scrubbing at all, but they look a bit too big somehow.

Cheers mate

nice to know it'll definetly fit...i knew the tryes wouldn't look as pretty as they could but unfortunately it's a squareback...not much choice with wheels really.
